Ahhhhhhhh, YAAAAY!!! …Doug and I have been looking forward to this wedding allllllll year long!!! A. We are shooting a wedding in the gorgeous Sydney and B. It’s a FAMILY wedding! Family weddings are always full of grandness and FUN! … Doug’s younger brother was getting married, and I think Doug was more excited that he didn’t have to shoot this one… instead, he got to be a part of the day in every way possible as one of Henry’s Best men! Doesn’t mean however, that he got out of being bag carrier!! hehe… But this wedding, I had the absolute privilege of shooting with one of my closest friends. Kim (Kimberley Cheyne Photography) and I have been doing business along side each other since the beginning, we’ve done a multitude of things together and for each other… but because we always shoot weddings with our better halfs, this is a wonderful first to be shooting a wedding together. And oh how natural it was! Kim took over Doug’s role for a day, she hung out with my family and the boys before hand and found out just how wonderful, kooky and totally crazy they all are! Families are GREAT eh!! I love them!! :)
Where do I start with these two. Well, I’ve known Henry as long as I’ve known my husband… down to the day. We’ve grown up together over these last 10 years, and although Sydney stole his heart a long time ago… those visits home every year always projected a level of happiness. If we have a scale of 1 to 10.. or a Thermometer, his level of joy and happiness far surpassed the number 10… and well the thermometer’s head just well and truly burst. Sarah threw Henry’s joy and happiness radar into a whole new level of consciousness! He had truly found home with her.
They are each other’s perfect person. They compliment each other in every way possible. My favourite point – Sarah is mighty competitive, and Henry plays the game giggling along the way- I think he loves seeing her super cute “I’m riiiiiight!!!” face with the little dipples to go with it! Sarah is completely welcomed into the family with open arms. She is sweet, funny, genuine and adoring. And we just know there isn’t a single thing she wouldn’t go to the ends of the earth to do for Henry. And vice versa. They’ve completely found home with each other.
So let’s get this show on the road…
I arrived to a nice calm Sarah taking the afternoon nice and easy. She was applying her own make up and going over in her head “I’m getting MARRIED today… TODAY!!!”. Exciting!
The stuuuunning view out over the Sydney Botanical Gardens, where Sarah will be tying the knot later this afternoon!
I had nooooo idea what Sarah would choose for a dress… but when I saw how simple and amazingly elegant this dress was, I thought ‘Of courseeee’. Perfect, perfect!!!
Over at Henry’s station, Kim is having fun with details and getting all the help in the world from the Uncles! … Stories that made me giggle and go ‘Yiiiiip, that’s Doug’s Uncle’ hehe. I love that!
Kim’s favourite shot of the day!! … And my Father In-Law’s new Facebook Profile photo I hope!! ;-) haha
Looking good Brother!!
All the brothers were gifted special Kruger Rand cufflinks for their 21st birthdays (dated South African coins). And all the boys wore them today!
Funny guys!! … Love these two!!
One very proud Mother!
Let’s go get you a wife eh Bro!!
Sarah said she wanted me in the photos too! … There ya go, great success!! ;-)
Sarah was prime make up artist today for all involved! 4pm was coming around mighty fast… it was dress time and she was one step closer to seeing her future husband at the aisle!
Henry and Sarah chose Lions Gate in the Sydney Botanical Gardens for their ceremony! And boy was it a beaut day for it!
I think these two photos completely depict the two sides to my lovely Brother In-law! haha
Ceremony starts at 4pm… Uuuuummm… well the parents of the Groom aren’t even here yet! Sydney is no Christchurch, when a Taxi driver drops you to the wrong entrance… it takes a looot longer to get from point A to point B!
Everyone is here, the show can go on!! This guy is so ready to see his beautiful bride!
Seriously. Neeeever seen this guy happier!
Team Family! Sarah’s brother Nick. And Henry’s brothers, Doug, Victor and little sister Bernadette accompanied them throughout their special day!
Kim’s beeeautiful side shooting!
A late ceremony didn’t leave much time for photos… and before we knew it, the reception was callllingggg our names! … And boy did their reception look amazing! So many beautiful flowers, and the table settings were deeevine!
I’m pretty sure my Father In-Law has plenty of advice to give with that finger!! hehe
We nipped out briefly between meals and speeches. This is their gorgeous venue within the Botanical Gardens!
Each family wedding, we receive of a gift of some kind. I was lucky enough to receive Doug’s balls for our mantle piece, engraved and everything (two shot puts). And Sarah got a rowing ore (Henry was once a Rower) with the Richardson crest on it, ready for whenever Henry’s giving her some trouble! haha.
I love a good send off! These two amazing people were sooooo well celebrated today! And completely deserved!!
Congratulations brother and new sister!! … It was so so so amazing being there not just as family, but as your photographer too.. capturing all those wee moments to help you remember this day for eveeeeer more!!
I’m soooo happy for you and just so pleased that you had the best day ever (because I know you did!!) …
Love you both,
Heather, Doug and Kim! xoxo
