Blick Family
When you meet a family like the Blick family. You really don’t want to leave them.
I met Coreena, Robbie and their boys, Maxus and Pheonix on Rarangi Beach in Blenheim last weekend. (Not just by chance.. they did book me! ;-)
Maxus and I went on a little adventure straight away and got to know each other a little better. I found he is cute. I found he is funny. I found he can be cheeky too. I liked him straight away. I love a bit of cheekiness.
I also found he likes to have his picture taken. At 4 years old, he is well used to it as this family LOVES their photos. What’s more amazing then having a family that really appreciates the art of photography? Being the next one who’s able to capture them.
Then Pheonix and I gave it a crack. At 20 months old, he’s a little less used to the camera. But he did enjoy a rock or 2 for lunch.
Ok, should these guys not go for best looking family of the year? Uh huuuuu!
Theres another Sir Edmund Hilary in the making. Until Mum breaks up the party and…
…Oh dear.
But the waves were more than sufficient enough to capture the attention of Pheonix and dry those tears right up.
Somtimes it’s just a matter of strapping on that big terrifying lens, standing back, observing and waiting for magic to happen. :)
Still with his eye on the waves, he claimed the waves were coming for me! Pfffft, we were agesssss away. :) (But I still had to look over my shoulder every now and again)
Pheonix is Mummy’s little boy. He was showering her with kisses!
And I think Maxus just might be Daddy’s little boy!
We finished up an hour of running all over the beach. Chasing Maxus’ around. Getting soaked by the waves, collecting rocks and sticks and goodness knows what else. (Even Doug bought the whole beach, shells, rocks, sticks and sand back in his back pocket)…
…And we headed back to Coreena and Rob’s place to get some bedroom shots. This is where I got to see with my very own eyes the appreciation this family has for photography. Their home was beautifully decorated with canvas and framed images of the stages of their boys lives. ….And then I felt the pressure du du duuuuuu. lol. Just kidding. :)
This is what unplanned shooting can look like. Maxus kept chucking pillows on Pheonix’s head until all 6 or 8 pillows from the bed had run out. Pheonix thought it was the bee’s knees. The cat’s pyjamas. He was having fun!
Enter extreme cuteness!
Speaking of cuteness.
Such gorgeous brothers, Maxus is so great with Pheonix. I can tell he’s a pretty cool big brother and Pheonix looks up to him.
Thank you for a great afternoon. When you really do get mucky on a shoot, you know you’ve had the best of times. And I was pretty mucky (one change of jeans later). Coreena and Rob, you have a beautiful family and I did nothing but enjoy every single second of capturing you all.
Can’t wait to show you the rest. :)
