The Deane-Freeman Family. Mick, Lindsay, 5 year old Lauchlan and 2 and half year old Malakhai.
Well just take a look at them… 4 gorgeous faces, 4 beautiful smiles… (and I bet the two bigger ones will be thinking this is a cheesy blog post). Well tough luck for them, I am the Queen of cheese!
This family was my 2nd to last shoot of my 7 back to back family photo shoots in Tauranga last week. I have decided to jump them to the front of the blog post line for a very good reason though.
Family. It means different things to different people. But as a general sense, I reckon it’s about togetherness. A unit you can rely on no matter what.
I feel like I see a lot from a photographers point of view. Scrolling through a folder full of images and all the different expressions I capture and the interactions with one another. You can’t help but get a feel for who people are. Especially as a family.
This family. They are a happy one. Given every family has their moments, but as an underlying point. They have the togetherness, they are a unit and as happy as any family can be.
So when The C word comes along. Which unfortunately is too much of a truth in todays world, and threatens the happiness of a family. That’s when I want to get in there and punch the C word in the guts.
As a born and bred Canadian and living away from her homeland, it can’t be overly easy for Lindsay. But with the incredible support of some truly great friends and her 3 main men, she continues to smile. Quite a magical and infectious smile I might add.
Having just had her operation after this photo shoot to kick the C word. We are all rooting for the all clear Lindsay. You are an amazing and strong woman. And I feel pretty lucky in having met you even if only briefly!
Now onto the fun these guys had set up for me on this shoot…
Notice how smiley Lauchlan is?… Just wait for my comment a few photos later…
I love how Malakhai and loving his Mom here.
FIRETRUCKS!!! I told you they had something fun in store for us all.
Mick is volunteer firefighter in Kati Kati. So they thought it would be a good idea to incorporate this into their photo shoot. Khai thinks that’s pretty awesomeee! And check out the guns on Lindsay, you can rescue me any day ;-) hehe
Can I have a chorus of ‘AWWWWWWWW!’
Lauchlan is trying out his new serious face (he is so super smiley it’s amazing), while Malakhai is trying not to lose his head!
Never far from that smile though!
He tried to hold the serious face… but life is for giggling! Aye Lauchlan!
I had to do this shot. Do you know why? Because it meant I got to climb on a firetruck! hehe. Sneaky huh!
I love this image. It has so many meanings. I’ve decided to add it to my list of portrait images that I am entering into the Kodak Gold Awards this year.
Apparently these two aren’t cuddly?! Uh huh. Could have fooled me guys! ;-)
The DF Family. You guys are great, you guys are fabulous. I had such fun on our photo shoot (fire truck climbing aside). And my BIGGEST wishes to you Lindsay to getting your health back on track. Keep smiling, because look above… it makes that husband of yours smile too. :)
Loads of love and hugs xoxo
