So the holiday season is coming to an end. The presents have been opened, the Christmas pudding has been eaten (along with everything else in near sight), the crackers have been opened and the New Year has been counted in. New Years resolutions (or goals as I’d prefer it) have been made and it’s either time to lay around in the sun or get back to work. A bit of both on this end. But whatever you do, I hope the New Year and 2011 treats you well. Has it’s challenges, but nothing that kills you but only makes you stronger. A year can be what you make of it, so I hope your year and what you make of it is a magnificent one.
A great end to 2010…
My last shoot of last year was a beautiful one, a great end to a great year and how could it not be with little Jackson in the frame?!
18 month old Jackson lives in Bali with his kiwi Mum, Jinae and his Balinese Dad, Bagong. Grandma Rochelle lives there too. I went to high school with Jinae 10 years ago. I remember her flitting over to Bali as much as possible. She always came back with braids and a gorgeous tan almost not achievable in NZ! Jealous! So when I found out a couple of years ago that she’d moved to Bali, married a wonderful Balinese man and was pregnant with the gorgeous product in front of you. All I thought was “That makes sense” coupled with”Man that’s awesome!”
So life’s a beach for this awesome family. And how fitting is that considering we toddled on down to New Brighton Beach. Given, a little different to any beach in Bali, (for a start hoodies are needed) it made for gorgeous portraiture and a messy time getting sand in places one should not have sand. Like your mouth! :-)
I’m going to have to admit. Kid’s are way faster than me… put them on their two feet and they are like lightening. I bought this wee chair, not just because it’s so darn cute… but as a distraction to SLOW THEM DOWN. It worked!
This is the first time Jackson has been to New Zealand and even though it’s a nice hot summer… coming from Bali and their 35 degree plus heat… he had to wear a hoody (for the first time). And didn’t he look dashing in it?!
See? The chair worked wonderfully and Jackson was so taken with it. He even carried it for me!
Jinae’s Mum, Rochelle joined us for the shoot which was fantastic because as you’ll see a little further down… Jackson and Grandma had a ball together and I got to snap it!
Sand on the tongue isn’t too ideal, is it Jackson?
Grandma and Jackson had a ball, she got a lotttt of giggles out of him.
A man walking his dog was kind enough to stop so Jackson could have a wee play. Jackson loveddddd this! I’d always heard Dalmatians were quite vicious dogs… not this one. Gentle and cute as anything!
Possibly Jackson’s last look at this horizon before he headed back to a more familiar one in Bali.
Happy New Year to Jackson, Jinae, Bagong and Rochelle. Thank you for such a wonderful evening. I hope you had a great holiday but are enjoying being home in Bali.
Hugs, Heather xxx
