Oma and Opa Lamers.
They started it all…
Back in 1953, they married. (Their marriage is as old as my Mum… that blew my mind!).
They went on to have SIX children. 4 Boys and 2 Girls.
Mary is the oldest girl and the 2nd oldest in the family. She married Vinny somewhat 30 years or more ago. And they went on to have 4 kids. Emily, Ben, Sam and Joe.
Wait, I’m not finished yet…
Emily married Johnny 4 years ago and had 2 gorgeous boys, Liam, 3 and Josh 15 months.
Still not finished…
And finally (for now) Ben married Juanita 3 years ago and they now has 2 gorgeous kiddys, Ollie 18 months and Lucy 6 months old.
Oma and Opa.
I think I fell in love with them instantly.
This is one of my best friends grandparents. She went over the day before the shoot to see them and she helped her Oma pick out a nice outfit for the shoot. But unfortunately ‘forgetfulness’ is taking residence and it slipped her mind. In fact Ben got into quite a bit of trouble because she ‘wasn’t’ told about the shoot. Naughty Ben! :)
But look, 57 years of marriage and they still can’t go a day without each other. This is the picture of a happy marriage and a happy life. A picture I’ll strive for myself.
Vinny and Mary are absolutely besotted by their little crew of grandchildren. And why shouldn’t they be!
And with each other… isn’t it clear?!!!
This is an especially special photo shoot. As well as Oma’s deteriorating “forgetfulness”. Mary has Motor Neurone Disease. She was getting so cold outside, I felt terrible… but the smile never left her face. Editing these photos, the smile isn’t leaving my face. Mary just looks so happy!
Liam hanging out with his Dad…. then… it’s a bird… it’s a plane… it’s… Superman! (or perhaps a Tiny Teddy he was being teased with ;-)
The Hutchison Crew. Clearly they taught their son’s to share! “Lick of my lollypop?”
The lollypops were a huge success, sticky as they may be… it produced a few brilliant smiles out of Josh!
Lucy’s joined the Kearn’s Crew 6 months ago. With her blonde blonde eye lashes and gorgeous red hair she setting a new trend throughout the family.
I know Ben from my teen years. I haven’t seen him in a while, not since having kids anyway. It’s so cool to see him in that ‘Dad’ role. It suits him down to the T.
I’m not going to lie. I was a little nervous about a photo shoot with so many people (which sounds weird because I’m a Wedding photographer and the quantity of people is always huge). But, the nerves were soon forgotten after seeing how warm, welcoming and happy this family is.
They go together like peanut butter and jam, peas and carrots… umm… (what else goes together well?) … Cheeeeeese and Crackers.
A tight knit family I could have hung out with…all.day.long!
Thanks for a wonderful winter’s afternoon Lamers, Kearns and Hutcheson Family.
