Life is beautiful.. but life is fragile. Life is like an egg shell.
We can take care of our physical selves as much as possible but the unexpected could always happen… and that egg shell could crack… Not break, just crack a little.
The difference between cracking and breaking is… a crack is easier to mend. The difference between cracking and breaking is… how easy, light and bright your yolk is.
When you’re struck with cancer at the tender age of 23… you realise just how LITTLE control you really have. Life could break and crumble in an instant.
Pip’s egg shell may have cracked just a little bit… but her yolk is strong, easy and light, her yolk is BRIGHT. And so is her Fiancé, Rob’s.
18 months ago I’d booked Pip and Rob for their January 2014 Wedding. They were planning their wedding with all the hope in their hearts, as Pip had just been hit with a second bout of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer.
Over the last couple of years she has gone through severe treatment, bone marrow operations, lost all her hair, and slept her days away because she was so severely sick.
Rob sat by her side holding her hand… even when she didn’t know he was there.
This was the most humbling engagement shoot I’ve had to date… because Pip and Rob smiled a smile all the way through, that was so genuine, so thankful and positive and so BRIGHT… I wanted to cry happy tears because as Pip said. … She was just so happy to be here.
They didn’t let their egg shells break. They each cupped the outside of each others egg shells to keep each other together. And through this, they became ONE. Their egg shells are twice as thick now… Their yolks twice as easy and light… Their hearts stronger and more in love than ever.
I’m glad to have met these people……
This is the wonderful Pip and Rob. A couple who had known of each other for yearssss prior to getting together. But one cold and dark night after a night on the town with the boys… cupid was lurking and a situation was being created.
A cheeky Rob made a call to Pip knowing she lived in the area and not having spoken to her for years, asked for a roof over his head. I guess he got more than he bargained for with that phone call, because he found the love of his life. Now 6 years on, Rob’s still got his cheeky nature, they’re engaged, they’ve braved the roughest of circumstances and here they sit smiling at each other, as if none else in the universe exists.
One thing Pip said to me that melted my heart – as she looked up at Rob “When you’re at your sickest, your fattest and your baldest and he loves you unconditionally, sitting by your bedside even though you don’t know he’s there- you know you’ve got a keeper” . Rob’s response “I told you I didn’t have anything better to do”. Haha Funny guy.
Pip & Rob. It was the ut most pleasure hanging out with you both. You truly humbled me last week – hearing your stories, seeing your smiles, witnessing your strength as a couple. I sooooo can’t wait for your big day! It will be a true blessing to see you both wedd!
Merry Christmas to you both and we’ll see you in the New Year!
Love Heather xoxo
