It was 4am, the night after the Rugby World Cup Semi Final… Pip slowly wakes to a -tap tap, tap tap- ‘Pip wake up’. Gluey eyed and still half asleep, she see’s a bright eyed Sam ready to whisk her away.
The obvious question.. ‘Where are we going?’ …
The 2nd obvious question… ‘Um.. whyyy?’.
Well Pip didn’t know it yet… but there was a Proposal in the making.
For months, Sam had coordinated timelines of his plan, schedules of those involved (driving post proposal to different ends of the South Island to tell family), time off work without giving an explanation. Plan A’s and Plan B’s and all while keeping his amazing plans to himself. (This is why it’s the boys job to propose… a girl just can’t keep this stuff in lol)
They arrived in Methvan and stepped foot onto an air balloon… Pip was non the wiser and simply thought she had the most romantic boyfriend in the world. So when that ring came out mid flight, in that contained space… with the ground so far below… Sam had to grab the ring back as soon as possible. Because with all the happy, squealey, arm waving action from Pip, that baby could have gone flying!
…Mid balloon flight over the plains of Canterbury. Pip and Sam were engaged.
They met in the Octagon in Dunedin where Pip worked in a cafe. Sam just couldn’t keep away from the pretty wee waitress who tugged at his heartstrings. Pip just thought he reallllyyyy liked her ice chocolates.
Have a read of the few things that surround these two. ‘This is not your practice life’ and ‘Creativity is maximized when you are living in the moment’ are my two faves! And look how chuffed Sam is! He is looooovinggg life!
Pip and Sam. You guys are so beautiful. Inside and out. And I am SO unbelievably stoked you chose us for your photographers. Thanks for such a fun evening rolling around the city for your engagement. Sunday is going to be even better!
See you in just a couple of short days!!
