Miss Kate. This time last year, I met you for the first time. You were just 5 weeks old. And already as the small little button you were… you were holding your head up all by yourself like a champion. .. And now here we are on your very 1st birthday.
You know no other colour than pink because Mum won’t let you (come on Mum, branch out!! ;-) ) … And if you dare be photographed without your little headbands on, the one with the camera gets shot (no pun intended). Good thing I choose to ignore your beautiful Mum. Because I just want to follow you around all day long. Through the smiles, the cries, the running (even though you’ve only just started walking), the clean faces… and the grubby ones. The peek a boo’s and the tongue poking action. You my dear Kate… Are a joy to this world. You’re a joy to your big brothers and to your incredible parents. Miss Katie Pie Balmer. I just want to start this blog post off by saying… Thanks for being born! :)
This is why, you started walking before your 1st birthday and not only are you walking, you are practically running… and giving Mummy a heart attack by climbing the ladder to the trampoline already. You my dear Kate.. have no fear and the shear determination of your amazing Mum!
You knew something awesome was going on when Mum was in the kitchen whipping up something that smelled mighty sweet. (P.S. Mum + baking, doesn’t always compute). You had ME running to beat you out to the trampoline as I carried the balloons. There was pure excitement running through your veins.
And I could see it in your eyes that you were thanking Mum every inch of the day for letting you attack something so deliciously pink while we slipped it passed your brothers attention. This day is ALL ABOUT YOU Katie Pie.
And damn straight I was getting a grubby cuddle with you cheeky wee rascal before it was time for bath and bedtime! I don’t even have to hope it Katie Pie… because I KNOW… you had an AMAZING first birthday!!!
…But it doesn’t end here…..
So it’s no secret, between Becca and myself… we are no Queen of the kitchen. So when she expressed the desire to whip up some beautiful girly cupcakes and this Teddy Bear Cake. Nobody believed her. … It was entertaining watching the shear determination shine through as she WILL do this all by herself.. and they WILL look awesome!!… Good job Balmer… Proud of you!! ;-)
Now to the friendship side of things. … Do you have friends and family that you are forever thankful for? Are these people kind, caring, supportive, a joy to be around and loving unconditionally? … … Think of these people right now!!! Give them a hug in your mind! .. They WILL receive it!
I am SO lucky to have so many people that fit this statement. Becca is one of my absolute closest friends and I have adopted myself into her family. Watching her little tykes grow is one of the biggest joys in my heart.
