We are in the world of the love/hate relationship with Facebook… But I for one am a self confessed LOVER of Facebook. Yeah I can spend too much time on there, it’s a really grand distraction. HOWEVER… it also leads you to new friends. And I always love new friends, no matter where they come from!
In the Photography world its all too common to have quite a few friends on good old Facebook, half of whom we’ve never met. Maybe barely said ‘Boo’ too?! … But it is a great way to follow each others work and it helps as a social lubrication when it does come to finally meeting in person! …
The beautiful Kate of Stillwaters Photography has been one of those Facebook friends. We’d met briefly once, chatted heaps on Facebook and a couple of weeks ago we had the pleasure of being roommates during the NZIPP Conference in Auckland. It was so awesome to experience that wit of hers in the real world (she had me in stitches all week long) and become real life friends!
So this last week, it was SO lovely to drop into Omakau, the place Kate calls home, while doing a wee dash around the South Island. It was so awesome to see my new friend with her real life family. And I tell you what… amongst the wit, the one who repeats everything that is said and the one who doesn’t say very much at all (I’ll let you assume who is who hehe) they are an amazing family that I had the privilege of getting to know that little bit more.
So now it’s your turn to get to know the Groundwater family that little bit more. Because they are worth every single second of it! …
We did their shoot on their farm. Their 6,000 acres worth of farm. … It was pretty cool! They actually only found these little houses the other day… who needs accommodation? It’s only slighty dusty!! :)
Kate and Mark met somewhat 7 years ago. They were each others neighbours in the farming community of the South. They had never met, heck Kate didn’t even know the neighbours had a son. I think she was slightly delighted when she learned of this news.
Kate, Mark and Sophie. Thank you sooooo much for having us in your home and for the epic Lemon Meringue pie. It was so awesome getting to know you more Kate and meeting your gorgeous wee family!! …
Until next time my friend! :)
